What’s with the Platypus?

The concept of the Original Computing Platypus was an accident. We were searching for a logo, something to express who we are as well as be unique and memorable. Ben, one of the founders of the company, decided to draw some concepts, coming up with the idea of a platypus with a t-shirt on. He shortly after added the penguin, a hat-tip to Linux and the open source community, and Dirty Harry, the first Original Computing platypus logo was born (stay tuned for Dirty Harry in the future!). We put the idea out to a few artists and our flash artist came back with the images you see today!

The underlying reasons are a little deeper than this, however. The platypus is the enigma of the mammal family – it has a beaver-like tail, a duck-like bill, is venomous, and has claws. Original is a similar enigma – we provide quality, timely service, aiming to bring down overall costs as well as improve efficiency in businesses, something you don’t often see in IT these days. Our hourly rates are extremely competitive, yet we bring the knowledge, experience and skills of firms charging as much as double our rates.
